Variable Message Signals

Variable message signs are intended to inform the user of dangerous traffic conditions, as well as convey obligations, prohibitions, or useful indications to improve traffic flow and ensure driver safety.

	Variable Message sign Hazard, regulatory, and indication signs inscribed on variable message signs have the same meaning as those used alone. The requirements transmitted by variable message signaling are temporary, modifying the normal regime of road use.
	STV1 - Directional bay Indicates a sudden change in trajectory, and can be presented fixed, complemented with two yellow lights turning on alternately, or in continuous translation. It is mounted on a support vehicle.
	STV2 - Variable Message Panel Use to display text messages mounted on a support vehicle.
	V1 - Lane reserved for vehicles with high occupancy rate Indication of a traffic lane reserved for light passenger vehicles with two or more occupants.
	V2 - Deviation Indication of the existence of an alternative route.
	V3 - Closed route Indication of the prohibition of transit after the next exit and the obligation to use the next exit.
	V4 - Next exit closed Indication of the prohibition of transit at the next exit.
	V5 - Next exit open and the next closed Indication of the possibility of using the next exit and the prohibition of using the following exit.
	V6 - Next exit closed and the next one open Indication of the prohibition of transit at the next exit and the possibility of transit at the following exit.
	V7 - Congestion warning" Indication of approaching a section of road with a high volume of traffic.
	V8 - Notice of road works Indication of approaching a section with roadworks or obstacles.
	V9 - Snow or ice warning Indication of the approach to a section of road where the pavement may become slippery due to the possibility of snow or ice.
	V10 - Crosswind warning Indication of the approach to a section of road where there is often a very strong side wind, with the orientation of the symbol represented on the sign indicating the predominant direction of the wind.
	V11 - Slippery Pavement Warning Indication of the approach to a section of road whose surface, under certain conditions, may become slippery.
	V12 - Lane Obstruction Warning Indication of the approach to a section of public road where traffic is obstructed by vehicles.
	V13 - Insufficient visibility warning Indication of the approach to a section of public road where there may be meteorological or environmental conditions that make visibility insufficient, particularly in the event of fog, heavy rain, snowfall, smoke clouds or dust.
